Living Clean

OK, it's not that dramatic but it is big news at our house.

I've been really hitting it lately with stepping up my nutrition and eating habits, primarily through drinking more green smoothies and raw foods.

I am still eating cooked things, but not in any large amount and only things that I feel have got good nutritional benefit.

I'll have recipes and more about my actual eating tips and habits on the Nutrition Forum.

BLAH, BLAND AND BLANDER...

I am really enjoying it and am absolutely blown away by how much better the food I am eating tastes than the bland blah blah blah stuff that I used to call food.

So I was thinking about how I could start getting the kids to do more smoothies and good stuff as well.

The primary trick is to make it available and take away the other stuff.

Works for me!

But guess what the 'other' primary trick is.

LEAD BY EXAMPLE

My daughter also amazes me sometimes when she picks up on things that I do and does them too.

So often I think that I am unnoticed.

If you're a mom, I bet you think that too.

Think again!

I suspect that your kids are noticing more than you think - the good and the bad.

LETS CONCENTRATE ON THE GOOD!

I really think for me that has been the main fuel behind my success in doing so well with my new eating habits.

There's so much good stuff.

And by doing that, I've been giving my daughter more good stuff to pick up from me.

SO THE NEWS ALREADY!

So, while I was contemplating yummy things I could include in our meal plan that wouldn't involve the kids running screaming from the room, my daughter casually mentions 'you know how you're into natural and healthy thing... smoothies... and all that stuff. Well, my friends mom is like that too. We were talking about how you can get away with eating crappy stuff when you're young but it will bite you when you older. (from the mouths of babes).

So we want to start eating healthier. We're going to have smoothies every morning, and do exercises every day. We're going to check in with each other every day to be sure that we DO it."

This girl is 11 years old.

I wish I was so smart when I was her age.

She's pretty much nailed the 3 keys to health.

Nutrition, Exercise and Support.

I am so amazed and thrilled.

So this morning she reminded me about her smoothie and had the Best Tropical Smoothie Recipe So Far that I had yesterday.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Have you had a look at your health habits lately? Are you setting a good example?

Ready to ramp it up a notch for spring?

That would be a great thing to keep in mind for today.

What one thing could YOU improve?
