I am now sorting the stuff that has come from the bedroom floor. Most of it will quickly slot into - washing paper or other category - so just doing a quick sort of this and allocating it all where it goes and then going back to vacuum the floor there. I will keep this ongoing post - recording as I clear. I am quite excited today and have renewed energy for this job.
I've hung the washing out - to make room for more - there is deep snow, but the sun is out and it might dry a bit or at least freshen up.
I will bring it in when it gets dark.
The bedroom is a lot better and I have sorted out the drawers on the other side, so although it is not looking good, there is some order appearing and I have made the bed up and will change the linen before bed time to make the whole improvement really sing.
The bathroom is the best area at the moment, so I keep going in there and shining the tiles and the mirror and the window - I am going to go right round improving all this. I've been up there to get the mat to wash and will start doing the rounds of cleaning surfaces again. The right hand window pane needs doing - have done the left.
The TV man came and put a new box in. Great excitement. The old box was shot.
He did not need to go into the bedroom...
While I was clearing the junk, I found some coats that needed hanging up. These could not go into the hall cupboard because there was too much coat hanger tangle. Yesterday I sorted out the coathanger tangle from behind the living room door where the temporary ironing hangers are. I reduced these to 3. Then, in the hall cupboard, I reduced the coathangers and took out all 'fat' coathangers such as the padded ones, as they take a lot of space the the hanging rack there is very narrow. I put all these coathangers in Ronaldo's cupboard as he does not have much in there and there is plenty of room on the rail. The padded hangers can go there for when they are needed - they are really better than the wire ones.
Some of the shop hangers I have put outside for the coathanger recycle.
As I was doing the bedroom, I thought of the declutter fast concept. Unfortunately I can't afford the declutter fast book, but I have my own version of it. It is basically this: Think about what you want in the room. Take everything out of the room - and put back only what you want in it. All the rest must go - to the dump, the recycle or the charity shop. Anything that must be sorted must be sorted. There needs to be a design for the room - and the room can be modified, bit by bit, according to what is needed in it. It needs to be functional and as part of this needs to be easy to maintain.
Anyway, that's the ideal world.
At the moment, now that the panic is over, I think I am going to bag up some of the junk and put it back where it was, as I can't declutter it so quickly.
The best way to to get a quicker declutter, I think, it is have a paper sort pile under the stairs. Then all the paper stuff that needs sorting can go there. I then need to make regular times for sorting it until it is done. At the moment the paper sort is going into the bedroom because I can just shut the door on it.
The paper sort is a very time-consuming process, and up to now the time-factor has meant that paper clutter has filled every available space and killed it. So I need to shift this dead paper out and find the time to sort it.
I need to look at this again and maybe clear the under stairs area - I have to analyse what there is there now and how I can get rid of it.
Then I need to work out how to pile the paper stuff there.
I am trying to get my head round this.
Books to chuck out this week: Where's Wally, Atheism and Alienation, need to find a third.
Last time, managed to sell 3 books, so they found their way out that way.
