Living Clean

So far, I have tidied the living room and the bathroom and kitchen.
Now I am onto 'maintain' with those.
I have adapted Jan's programme by identifying a 30 step plan for keeping the room tidy
So I do the room tidying in 2 different ways - one is I do the daily tidying - where you go round picking everything up and putting it where it should be and clean anything that needs to be cleaned.
The second circuit is the deep clean circuit. There is obviously an overlap between the two, but every day I stop and do one of the 31 monthly tasks for that room.
Using Jan's boost principle, I realize that at the beginning these deep clean sessions may be longer than they will eventually be once everything is tidy.
I have not yet fully got my head around BOOST so I am adapting it and learning it as I go along.
I am now keeping the 3 rooms tidy that are already tidy.
I have noticed some new things that need cleaning - particularly tiles in bathroom and kitchen.
I will come back to this.
Today I am starting to tidy the study
The problems are that there are too many papers, there are piles of papers and there is no effective filing system.
Stuff just gets dumped here on one worksurface.
I have identified sections of the room or 'quadrants' as Jan calls them.
But this is not as clear yet as for the other rooms where I have made more progress.
So I am still adding to the quadrants.
I also need to do the bedroom.
In the bedroom I am trying to do just one quadrant per day.
The bedroom is bad again as more stuff has been dumped there from the other rooms.
However, at least it is all shifting.
In the study I am doing several quadrants per day as this is my new target area.
The bedroom is more important as I need to recharge there - but I have separated the dumping and sleeping sections of the room and somehow manage to live with this.
I have emptied it and started again a couple of times.
It is improving every time - but I need to reduce the volume sufficiently to get this to stop happening.
I have more plans for this.
But in the meantime maintaining the other rooms is enough to keep me going.
Christmas is all over thankfully the overeating has stopped.
I have been very good and have avoided chocolate.
The worst thing at the moment is the Christmas cake
So I have put most of it in the freezer in sections and there are now only 4 small slices left and 3 mince pies.
I have kept these - and also some of Celine's biscuits so that I have something to offer guests.
Peter is still visiting, but he is going back to France at the weekend.
He is over at his Dad's today, but he is coming over tomorrow and we are going out for a meal and a pantomime.
I am planning on getting the Pizza Express Leggerra Pizza - this should be good for my diet.
On Wednesday I am going back to Weight Watchers for a while at least to get things started for the new year.
Anyway, back to tidying the study.
