I've been doing really well in sticking to my
morning housework routine lately.
Part of the reason is that it is really showing. I am excited to get started because I am
peeling back layers, like an onion.
Every week shows noticeable improvement on some of the things that had been put to the
backburner.
But this morning, I found myself not so excited to get started.
THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT
I realized that it was 2 things.
1 - I had no big project in mind to take a bite out of.
2 - I was feeling a little overwhelmed and ineffective because I had to haul a bunch of things out
of our closed in deck area that we are insulating and it has cluttered up much of the house again.
The good news was that I got rid of more stuff that needed to be gone from there (mostly MORE books (and magazines, if you can believe it, 2 big boxes full).
The bad news is that I find myself feeling lost and muddled amongst the clutter.
So instead of allowing it to allow myself to get off track, I decided to just dive into to another part of the house that was showing some wear.
By the end of my session, it had taken a huge step up, and I realized that part of the problem was that I hadn't had a BOOST area in mind - something that would make a lasting difference.
AWAKEN THE GIANT THROUGH IMMEDIATE POSITIVE ENFORCEMENT
Part of my morning routine has been to read
Tony Robbins - Awaken the Giant Within.
He talks about immediate positive enforcement.
For me, that is seeing a noticeable difference in something that isn't maintenance. Progress.
One big thing.
Even if it's a very small chunk of one big thing.
It's still progress.
How about you?
If you find yourself wallowing, maybe you need to do the same.
10 minutes progress on a 'big thing' not only will help you to clear your house, and your head, it will help to put you in a better state of mind - and that will help you to keep going even when you think you don't want to.
ACTION TIP
Choose one project that is nagging you, that is dragging you down.
It could be any pile of clutter, a bag to fill to be taken to charity, a drawer to declutter.
It's completely your choice.
