Living Clean

This year I seem to be having a slow start in getting organized for the new year or doing my regular pass at decluttering projects. It's in a large part because of a project we're doing in the kitchen - putting on our new wood counter top.

What a process this has been - actually a year in the making since we had originally been going for granite or something for last Christmas.

This is a LOT cheaper and just as nice, if not nicer. More about that later!

I am getting the New Year itch and can't wait to dig in to my usual New Year routine - out with the old in with the new.

Actually I'm making a change to that - my New Year resolution is to not be having so much 'in with the new' for quite some time.

I want more clear spaces, to make better use of what I've got, to simplify and to save money.

I can do all of that right here without having to bring much of anything in that's new. Maybe a few very carefully selected items for gardening. More about that later too :0)

How about you?

Can you pinpoint one thing that would help you to bring in 2010 to your liking?

Instead of getting bogged down with too many resolutions, why not try one new rule to live by that could apply to any area of your life?

For me I guess if I am to refine it further it would be to improve, to use and to make the best of what I've got while continuing to get rid of anything that doesn't fit the picture.

Finish what I've started - resist the urge that I seem to gravitate towards to spread myself too thin.

Simplify.

At the same time I'd like to focus more of my life on people - it seems a natural progression as 'things' become less of an ordeal. I very nice surprise.

I'd love to hear what your 'thing' is going to be for 2010.
