Living Clean

I took up Jan's suggestsions and did a bit of decluttering in the bathroom. I like to do this and find some treats in there so I build up from the bathroom day to the pamper day.

I have done the bathroom declutter in a couple of sessions. the first thing I found was some hair colouring that I had got on a half price or less sale. They have been sitting there for about 3 years. So I did a quick colour session on my hair - which was really good and it took out the odd wisps of grey and gave my hair a nice deep colour which I like.

I also found some make up.

During the rest of my declutter I have found quite a few odd bits of make-up and I have bought a hairdressers trolley half price and am using this to collect and sort through all the make-up.

The next thing I found was some dried up dead sea mud and some face pack type stuff.

I am going to have a spa session for myself where I light a candle and apply the dead sea mud and sit in the bath with a book and then afterwards remove all the mud and so on. This is to celebrate the end of the 31 day challenge.

Now that the challenge is finished, I need to start again.

Primarily I need a systematic declutter - as the stuff needs to be going out of the door and not shifting from one side to the other.

I have got rid of quite a few things. In the kitchen I have got rid of a fridge and a tumble dryer. I gave away the fridge on freecycle and the tumble dryer - which was not really working, went to the dump.

There is more space in the kitchen, and I have also cleared up the worksurfaces. They quickly re-clutter however, and the biggest problem is an open plan worksurface between the kitchen and study.

This has filled with stuff and needs sorting.

I have taken a box and have started to take all the papers from this area and put them into the box. It is mainly paper-filing that needs doing here. I think if I empty under the stairs and pile up the paper filing under the stairs and then sort it from there, this might be the best plan.

I also need to re-organise my study itself, and I need a plan for this as the paper comes in quite quickly

This is a good job for watching television, and I need a definite time to do this - or at least to do it regularly for a set amount of time.

This is my next task.

The bedroom also still needs decluttering. I have had several declutter sessions in there, but new stuff comes in from everywhere else. I have also started to declutter my books - which is very difficult. I could have put stuff in the attic, but they are coming to insulate it in March, and I need to declutter for that.

One idea is to label the books, box them up and put them up there and then bring them down on the day of the insulation and put them back up there. This is a possibility.

I have already emptied a lot of the stuff up there and lots of it can just go straight out.

Despite all I have thrown out the study and bedroom are still not looking good.

But I have faith it will improve as I did improve it a few weeks ago - only to put more junk in there not long after.

That's me for to-day - looking forward to a new month of decluttering.
