Ok, I admit it. I never even downloaded the first week cleaning guide!! I'm such a slacker! My house, my kids, my sanity all really need me to get motivated and step forward, but for some reason, I can't seem to get there.
I am so happy with some progresses we've made around here though, thanks mostly to our recent tax return which helped fund our plans! A new (much needed) bed for us, some bunk beds for the boys, and the tackling of the basement, which to-date has been a room to hide from! It was at the point that you stand at the top, throw stuff you don't want down the stairs and run away. Stuff was oozing up the stairs and into the hallway. I couldn't get down there to even do anything.
Home to my Tupperware business "stuff" - like my small collection of inventory, game prizes and warranty returns, bags for delivery, and some paperwork - I really need to get my act together to take advantage of the space and the shelves that my dear hubby made for me last year.
So, we did it. We managed to stumble over the boxes and toys and all that crap that was down there and went for it.
I'm proud to say we succeeded - sorting my work stuff onto the shelves. I also donated a bunch of old inventory that I hadn't been able to sell in my year-end sale to various fundraising auctions and events. Helps promote my business to new people and helps me get my shelves back!
We went through boxes and boxes of things, sorting them properly, labeling Rubbermaid bins and storing them under the stairs.
The toys were the hardest. There were SO many ... and honestly they don't use most of them. I needed to figure out a way for them to be able to access LESS toys at once instead of just having a huge pile.
I found a GREAT bin shelf at Walmart - 6 bins with a wooden unit to hold them in. My previous attempts at this failed b/c the boys like to dump everything out and use the bins to stand on (sigh!) but now that the majority of the toys in the house are in the basement, I might have more success. I managed to go through all the toys, get rid of the crappy McD's happy meal ones and anything broken.
It feels so nice to walk into the basement and not think you are going to get sucked into the vortex of doom. Now, if only I do the same to the kitchen, the laundry room, the office, the bedrooms, the garage ....
Good news though! I have some motivation:
*I live in a co-operative community and they do annual inspections. They start on Tuesday (yikes).
*On May 24th, the community is having a garage sale. If I can get through all our crap, maybe we can sell it for some more $! :)
Good luck ladies! Hopefully I'll catch up soon. lol
