Hi Veronica, I love that you included making parenting fun, I think that's the key to great memories for the kids and parents.
I can recommend two resources for anyone looking for information or ideas on how to make parenting, and childhood more fun.
Mom Has Fun - this is geared towards creative ways to give mom better control and setting boundaries so that she has more emotional resources to have fun with the kids and to better enjoy parenting.
Lisa, who is part of our community, has put together some Make It Fun eguides as well, PACKED with fun ideas of things to do with younger children. She has 3 so she's well equipped :0)
The best tip I have for making parenting fun is to not sweat the small stuff and always put things into perspective.
When I look back on my own parenting mistakes, most of them were because I placed far too much importance on
- what other people thought (can be a major source of stress - a major fun killer) or
- things - a good example is scribbles. My youngest loved to scribble on things, especially books and walls. At the time I wasn't impressed, now I have even left some of her artwork on my walls when we repainted and love to find her 'signature' in my once 'precious' books.
Obviously, they can't go wild scribbling on everything, but what's the harm in giving them a wall or two :0) (actually, on Oprah yesterday there was a man who is dying who gave a presentation on the show, if anyone caught it, it's on uTube too if you know his name or the link) He said one of the best things his parents did for him was to let him paint pictures on his walls, he did this when he was older. I thought they were pretty good!)
That chalkboard paint that you can get at hardware stores is great stuff too.
