I am a stay-at-home mother of one who used to to be a professional workaholic (I was a trader and portfolio manager in my prior life). I still have not managed to find a way to translate my crazy attention to detail that served me so well in that environment into my home! I want so desperately to have a clean, uncluttered home and a Donna Reed type persona where everything looks clean and my child and husband are well fed and the dog hair is never on my beautiful hard-wood floors, but I cannot seem to ever stay on top of it all. I need HELP!

What is your biggest challenge:
Clutter, laundry, cooking, and my floors...I have 4200 square feet of dark hardwood throughout (no carpet, which was a choice I made). We have a white German Shepherd who is 12 years old, and she sheds a lot, and I have a hard time keeping the floors dusted. The house pretty much stays picked up, dishes always get done, beds get made, etc.
What has prevented you from success in thepast:
Time management. My daughter is five, and she is not in a full-time program yet, but is in a five hour a day school. My husband travels a lot for business, so I do it all. When he is home, we have a lot of social obligations to attend, and we travel as a family often or go with him on his business travels occasionally. It is difficult to stick to a routine with the interruptions. This makes everything difficult, and I find that laundry and cooking suffer the most.
How can the iShine Community help you to achieve your goals:
I am really not sure, exactly. I have heard that sometimes support helps with motivation. I tend to get discouraged and avoid the situation all together instead of stick to the problem. My friends are all too eager to go out and eat and shop, but that is counter-productive for me. Most of my friends have domestic help, but I have held out on that thus far. I enjoy the time I have with my child, and I want to be with her all that I can. I may end up hiring a once a week housekeeper to help with heavy cleaning, but I still need help with the things only I can do. That won't help me with my routines.
What can you contribute to the iShine Community to help others achieve their goals:
Maybe once I get involved, I can help motivate others as well.
